Colin Groth

Before, I had the pleasure of working at Max Planck Institute for Informatics with Hans-Peter Seidel and Karol Myszkowski. I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with an incredible group of colleagues in New York and abroad who inspire me every day. My academic journey took root at the Technische Universität Braunschweig, where I completed my master’s and PhD under the guidance of Marcus Magnor.

My research is driven by a fascination for human perception — mainly visual, but also vestibular and tactile — and its potential to enhance computer graphics. Virtual reality holds a special place in my heart, having been the focus of my thesis. My interests further extend to eye tracking, physiological measurements, and novel forms of vestibular stimulation. And like every graphics researcher, I have a deep appreciation for stunning graphics and fast renderings.

Beyond the lab, you’ll likely find me outdoors: paddling through open water, catching views from mountain peaks, or rocking out at a metalcore concert. And nothing beats a good burrito while watching the sunset after a day well-spent.
